Pressure Testing

Since 2006, Air Tightness testing has been required to comply with part L1A & L2A of the building regulations for domestic and commercial new builds. Air testing measures the amount of uncontrolled leakage from gaps and cracks in the building envelope using a specialised fan to depressurise (or pressurise) the dwelling.

Air Tightness testing is also a useful tool when measuring, and trying to improve, the efficiency of existing buildings.

Air can escape through small cracks and gaps in walls and around windows/doors. We can help locate these defects and either work with your preferred contractors or complete the required work ourselves to improve the efficiency of your buildings. This will also help to reduce your heating costs which in the current climate can be hugely significant.

EPC's

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a home energy survey that shows you how energy efficient your home is. It includes a list of recommendations on how to improve your energy efficiency and the likely cost of upgrade.

It is a legal requirement to have an EPC if you're selling, leasing or renting a property. An EPC can add huge value to your property by considering  energy efficiency and how to reduce your energy bills and carbon emissions.

Your property will be given an energy rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient) and is valid for 10 years.

To check if your property has an up to date EPC, please check Find an energy certificate - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

BREL Reports

Following updates to Part L of the Building Regulations in England last year, Building Regulations England Part L (BREL) reports have become mandatory for all new domestic properties.

These reports are submitted to Building Control as evidence that the building design and installation are compliant. Our experts will help you through the process and will provide SAP assessments; predicted EPCs; overheating calculations (both simplified & thermal dynamic modelling methods); condensation risk analysis; water efficiency calculations; as built BREL report; as built SAP report and as built EPCs.
